The college’s Chill Coffee House offers a wide variety of dishes

JOHOR BARU: Previously, diners can enjoy ‘brunch’ (a combination of breakfast and lunch) — offered at most coffee houses of the star-rated hotels in the city.
And now, someone had coined out the term ‘trunch’ (lunch and tea), which is believed to be the first of its kind being offered here.
The offing is not from any of the existing star-rated hotels in Johor Baru but from KFCH International College’s Chill Coffee House.
Lots of choices: Dessert section at Chill Coffee House offering guests with many selections of cakes, jellies and pastries.
“Trunch caters for those who prefer to relax on weekends enjoying lunch and tea time with their families and friends after a stressful weekdays,” said KFCH’s food and beverage/event management department head Md Hisham Hassan.
He said this at the luncheon preview for members of the Johor Baru media at the college’s coffee house in Bandar Dato’ Onn here on Thursday.
The coffee house has a seating capacity for 100 diners and the contemporary setting of the place can easily fit at any of the star-rated hotels in Johor Baru.
Md Hisham Hassan said diners would be spoilt with choices from the wide varieties of local and Western cuisines, salads, cakes and pastries on the buffet counter for trunch which starts from 12pm until 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
He added that from Tuesdays to Fridays, Chill Coffee House offered more than 100 selections of dishes from the a la carte menus.

Journalists were treated to sumptuous spreads of Western cuisine on the buffet counter which include wild mushroom soup, seafood salad, mix green salad and Waldorf salad with honey mustard dressing, thousand islands and French vinaigrette.
For the main course, guests were served with the baked crusted Norwegian salmon – salmon steak with mashed Idaho potato, buttered vegetables and creamy saffron sauce.
The other main course was the oven baked chicken roulade – chicken thigh stuffed with mozzarella cheese and chicken meatloaf accompanied with sautéed baby potatoes, buttered vegetables and homemade mushroom sauce.
“What sets us different from other is that our chefs who prepared the food at the coffee house are lecturers at the college,” said Md Hisham.
There are about 400 students undergoing diploma level courses at the college in hotel management, restaurant management, culinary arts, tourism management and event management.
KFCH International College, formerly known as Paramount International College is a member of KFC Holdings (M) Bhd.
Chill Coffee House is located at No: 1, Jalan Dato’ Onn, Bandar Dato’ Onn and open on weekdays from 10am and 7pm (closed on Mondays) and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 7pm. For reservations, call 07-360 1800 ext: 1855.
